Summary
Since radio waves are significantly attenuated in water, sound wave communication is usually used for wireless data communication. Generally, the underwater exploration vehicle is provided with a set of communication devices according to the type of data to be transmitted and received, and the two communication devices are arranged separately from each other so as not to interfere with each other. However, in the case of a small vehicle, the two communication devices cannot be placed apart.
The present invention relates to a system for performing acoustic wave communication between two acoustic wave communication devices without causing collision of acoustic waves. In this system, a set of acoustic wave communication devices (a first acoustic wave communication device and a second acoustic wave communication device) is used to transmit and receive two or more types of data while transmitting a response to reception of a sound wave. The present invention has the following configurations.
1) The first acoustic wave communication device transmits the first acoustic wave to the second sound wave communication device.
2) As a response to the reception of the first sound wave, the second sound wave having a transmission period and a rest period as one cycle is repeatedly sent to the first acoustic wave communication device. This wave transmission is performed until the next first sound wave is received.
3) The first acoustic wave communication device determines the transmission timing at which the next first acoustic wave can be received by the second sound wave communication device based on the time required from the transmission of the first acoustic wave to the reception of the second acoustic wave and the length of the wave transmission period.
4) The next first acoustic wave is transmitted to the second acoustic wave communication device while the second acoustic wave communication device is not transmitting the second acoustic wave.
