Application for Data and Samples

  Users can apply to use data and samples that are not posted on this data site. This includes data and samples that are within their Publication Moratorium Period. To apply, please follow the instructions below.
  For core samples, please apply from JAMSTEC core curation page of Kochi Institute of Core Sample Research.

(1) Specification of Data and Samples
When users apply to use data which is not opened on this web site, please inform us with the following information to specify the data or samples you are interested in.
    For example,
  • ship name, cruise code that obtained data or samples
  • submersible name, dive number that obtained data or samples
  • kind of data or observation
  • ID codes of the data or samples.
If users do not have such information, please contact the Data Management Office (dmo jamstec.go.jp) about your request, ex. area (range of latitude and longitude), period, kind of data/samples.
(2) Confirmation of Necessity of Permission
When users want to have data or samples which are in their Publication Moratorium Period or data/samples with no set Publication Moratorium Periods, users will be requested to have permission from the PI, Science party or Dive Researcher who had obtained such data or samples before filling in the application form. If users do not have the contact address of the PIs please feel free to contact us.
Furthermore, if any conditions of use are attached by the PI (or by other researchers) when getting permissions, users are requested to submit those set conditions in documents (free form) with the Application Form.
(3) Shipment of Application Form
Please send appropriate forms to the Data Management Office. "Data Request Application Form" for data and "Sample Request Application Form" for samples.
CAUTION: Signatures of applicants are required on the application forms. We can not send biological samples out of Japan.
