Multi-spectral excitation/emission fluorescence of underway surface seawater was measured using Multi-Exciter fluorometer. Fluorescence data was taken every 15 min for 30 sec, and each 30-sec data was averaged to minimize the noise.
Upon consultation in advance with the chief of investigation and the person(s) in charge of research issues who gathered that data, we request that the text of the results material contain a statement to the effect that it was obtained during the R/V Mirai cruise of MR17-05C, the Chief Scientist, Shigeto Nishino (JAMSTEC), and the following Principal Investigators (PIs) for gathering the data.

Multi-Exciter (JFE Advantech) S/N:0040
Multi-Exciter is a multi-excitation fluorometer for aquatic algal class detection. It is equipped with a chlorophyll fluorescence probe with 9-wavelength excitation LEDs to measure fluorescence spectra, a turbidity meter, a temperature, and a depth sensor.
