Quality Levels of Data

We basically provide Quality-Controlled or Corrected data on this site; however, some data are still raw and not checked yet. Please confirm the data status before using.

The quality control levels on this site are following,

quality levelexpressionstandard process
lowRawOriginal data as of the end of the cruise (Just converted to physical property or preliminarily processed onboard)
middleProcessed (DMO)-BasicDerived values processed by Data Management Office from raw data without quality control
highProcessed (DMO)-QCedRoutinely quality controlled (adding quality flags or conversion to missing value) data by Data Management Office
very highProcessed (DMO)-CorrectedCorrected (correction with calibration data, evaluation of errors or filtering out of low reliable data) data by Data Management Office
very highProcessed (DMO/PI)Data includes both processed data by Principal Investigator and Data Management Office
very highProcessed (PI)Processed data by Principal Investigator

Data Management Office routinely makes "Processed Data(DMO)".

Some data may not be quality controlled.

The level of quality control may differ with the type of data.

"Processed(PI) is data processed and submitted by researchers. QC levals rely on datasets.

Once data in higher level is available, the lower level data will be replaced on the web by the higher level data. Anyone who wants to have "Raw data" or others is encouraged to contact us.

Data without links to files/publication pages

 Some data(reports) are shown on the cruise pages with no links to the relevant data files or publication pages due to the following reasons;

· The data is in its moratorium period.

· The data is not provided by the science party yet.

· Data dissemination process is not finished.

· Data handling policy is not set.

· The data is decided to be closed, etc.

Users who wish to use data that is not available on this web site are requested to contact the Data Management Office (dmo jamstec.go.jp). Please refer to the "Application for Data and Samples" page for details.
