Doppler radar (MR14-04 Leg1 -)

By Transmitting C‒band microwave, the rainfall intensity, wind speed and wind direction are measured from the intensity of reflected wave, and the doppler shift. In order to remove the influence of the rolling/pitching and ship speed, the antenna is contralled by high accurate INS(Inertial Navigation System).

General maritime meteorological observation system

Surface Photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) (MR15-01~)

Photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) in the air was measured with a PUV-510B radiometer. The instrument was positioned on an anti-roll platform to prevent interference from the shadows of structures on the ship. In addition, Ultraviolet irradiance (4 wavelengths) are also collected since May 2015 (after MR15-01 cruise).
