Precision of sampling point

Please note that sampling points (latitude and longitude) in this database may be a nominal location which means landing / target point of the dive or estimated point of sampling. We don't have enough information on the uncertainty of location.

method information

Analytical procedure

After initial splitting and jaw crushing, all samples were pulverized in an alumina ball mill. Major and trace elements were determined by X-ray fluorescence(XRF) at IFREE,JAMSTEC. Trace elemnts were analyzed from pressed powder discs, and major elements were determined from fused glass discs. A mixture of 4 g of each powdered sample and 4 g of anhydrous lithium tetraborate(Li2B4O7) was used; no matrix correction was applied because of the high dilution involved.
