Vinogradov et al. (1996) proposed the superfamily Archaeoscinoidea to encompass the family Archaeoscinidae. However, Lowry and Myers (2017) declined to adopt the Archaeoscinoidea and instead placed the family within Scinoidea. They also mentioned the view that the family should be placed in the Lanceoloidea.
