1. Cruise Code : |
|

2. Main research theme : |
Tropical Ocean Climate Study |
|

3. Objectives : |
For the better understanding of El Nino and Asian Monsoon,
which affect the social and economical activities in the East Asia
counties including Japan, we will conduct the observational studies
on the oceanic and atmospheric variability from intraseasonal to interannual
time scales in the Indo-Pacific warm water pool region. We aim to elucidate
the surface mixed layer process and interhemisphere water exchange,
which may control the climate system in the region. |
|

4. Outline of observation : |
Major missions are to recover and to deploy the TRITON
surface moorings and ADCP subsurface moorings. The six TRITON moorings
will be recovered and deployed along 156E, and the three ones will
be along 147E. The three ADCP moorings will be recovered and deployed
also. CTD measurements up to 1000m depth will be carried out around
the mooring deployment area. |
|

5. Main research area : |
Western tropical Pacific Ocean 8N-156E, 5S-156E,
5S-142E, 8N-142E
(TRITON mooring sites are 8N, 5N, 2N, Eq, 2S, 5S -156E: 5N, 2N,
Eq-147E)
(ADCP mooring sites are Eq-156E, Eq-147E and 2.5S-142E) |
