1. Cruise Code : |
|

2. Main research theme : |
Tropical Ocean Climate Study |
|

3. Objectives : |
For the better understanding of El Nino and Asian
Monsoon, which affect the social and economical activities in
the East Asia counties including Japan, we will conduct the
observational studies on the oceanic and atmospheric variability
from intraseasonal to interannual time scales in the warm water
pool region of the Pacific Ocean. We aim to elucidate the surface
mixed layer process and interhemisphere water exchange, which
may control the climate system in the region. |
|

4. Outline of observation : |
The main missions are to recover and to deploy
TRITON surface moorings. The four TRITON moorings will be recovered
and deployed along 137E (or 138E), and the two ones will be
along 130E. CTD and XCTD measurements will be carried out around
the mooring sites. |
|

5. Main research area : |
8N-139E, 1S-139E, 2N-126E, 8N-126E
(TRITON mooring sites are 137E-8N, 5N; 138E-2N, Eq; 130E-8N,
2N) |
|

6. Cruise period : |
From mid-December, 2006 through mid-January,
2007 (30 days) |
|

7. Ports of call (tentative): |
Port of departure: Singapore
Returning port: Sekinehama, Japan |
