1. Cruise Code : |
|

2. Main research theme : |
Biogeochemical cycles in the western North Pacific |
|

3. Objectives : |
Temporal biogeochemical changes in the ocean
have to be clarified for evaluation of the global warming and
the prediction. The objectives of this research cruise are to
understanding biogeochemical cycle using sediment traps, to
evaluate biogeochemical changes along 155 degree East in the
North Pacific, and to elucidate the biogenic gas flux through
the air-sea interface in the northern North Pacific. |
|

4. Outline of observation : |
1) |
Measurements of temperature, salinity and oxygen
profiles using CTD/O2. |
2) |
Recovery and deploying of sediment traps and
others. |
3) |
RMS water sampling and analysis of salinity,
oxygen, nutrients, CFCs, total alkalinity, DIC, DOC, pH and
other chemical components. |
4) |
RMS water sampling for primary production measurement. |
5) |
Underway measurements of pCO2, DIC, temperature,
salinity and nutrients. |
|

5.Main research area : |
The western North Pacific: 0 - 44°N, 155°E, and
stations along the Kuril Islands ((47°N, 160°E), (51°N, 165°E)
and others). |
|

6. Cruise period : |
January 2007- February 2007(60 days)
