概要
カタダラ属の特徴として、よく伸長した下顎のヒゲをもつこと、第 1 背鰭と胸鰭もしくは腹鰭の軟条の 1 本、もしくは複数が糸状に伸長することが上げられる(Cohen et al., 1990; Senou, 2008)。カタダラは日本周辺から知られる唯一のカタダラ属の種である(Senou, 2008)。体は淡い褐色で、背鰭と尾鰭の縁は黒くふちどられる。本種は南日本の太平洋岸、東シナ海、九州-パラオ海嶺の水深 570-990 m から報告されている(Senou, 2008)。
