Over view
General
Shell thick, inflated; height/length ratio 0.51-0.61. Umbo at about 5 % anterior of total shell length. Dorsal margin straight in juvenile but slightly convex in subadult and adult. Ligament extending about four-fifths of length of dorsal margin, with slightly convex ligament plate. Anterior adductor muscle scar large, elongate oval, located below the umbo; posterior adductor muscle scar rounded rectangular. Shell attaining 10 cm in length. Recorded from Sagami Bay and mid-Okinawa Trough. Depth range: 705-1128 m (Hashimoto & Okutani, 1994).
