General
Marianactis bythios, the only species belonging to the genus Marianactis, is distributed in the vicinity of hydrothermal vents at a depth of approximately 3,600 m in the Mariana back-arc basin, western North Pacific (Fautin & Hessler, 1989). The species has well-developed pedal disc of 15-50 mm width. The column is smooth, and the diameter is almost equal to height. Tentacles, colored mainly in pale pinks and yellows in living animals, taper slightly from base to blunt point.
