概要
ナガフタハオリムシは南西太平洋のマヌス海盆の熱水噴出域で最初に発見され(Southward & Galkin, 1997)、後に北フィージー海盆でも見つかったシボグリヌム科の多毛類である(Southward et al., 2002)。殻蓋部は狭く、先端は小形でくぼまない(Southward & Galkin, 1997)。棲管は曲がりくねり、10-15 度の水がしみ出る溶岩の割れ目に密集して生息することが観察されている (Southward & Galkin, 1997; Malakhov & Galkin, 2000)。
