概要
ナガヅエエソは、同属他種と同様に、よく伸長した腹鰭と尾鰭下部を有する深海性魚類の 1 種である。Bathypterois 属の種は腹鰭と尾鰭を用いて海底上に定位している姿がしばしば観察されることから、三脚魚（tripod fish）と呼ばれることがある。本種は胴体に 2 本の白色帯を有することが特徴的で、よく伸長した胸鰭の遊離軟条を有する。インド洋および西部太平洋から知られる。
