形態
殻は大型で高く、頂上方向に盛り上がって球形に近い形をしている。主棘は大きく、殻径の 2 倍程度の長さ。適度に太く、先端方向にやや細くなり、貴部近くの部分もわずかに細まる。主棘の軸表には 12-14 列の粗い縦条がある。微小棘は扁平で鱗状。
水深
70-700 m。
サイズ
殻径 4-8 cm。
分布・生物地理
陸奥湾; 日本海（東北地方沖）; 相模湾; 東シナ海（九州沖）。日本近海のみから知られる。
